Where to stay…

Published by erikajune at September 10th, 2008

…that is the question.  Accomodations can get pretty expensive, especially when you decide to go on a 3 month trip… the cost of having a roof over your head goes up astronomically!  BUT… there are other options than expensive hotels.  There are hostels and campsites for instance and the campsites are not usually bring your own tent :)!  There is also this great travel community online called couchsurfing ( you can find a link to it under blogroll to the right ).  All you need to do is set up a free account and you’re on your way!  The main premise of this community is to meet people through travel and what better way to meet people than to stay in a local’s home while you travel their country!  It is an inexpensive way to travel and you also get to meet other people and learn about their lifestyles, what could be better?

Plane, Train, or Boat?

Well, I guess the answer to that question is all three.  Pretty much my itinerary forces me to utilize all three major transport systems in Western Europe.  I will be flying into Athens and flying out of Edinburgh.  I will be using the train to go from country to country once I have arrived in Italy and I will be using boats not only to cross into other countries but also as a way to site see, I am planning on doing a 7 day cruise in Greece! More on that to come soon!  Once I have settled my plans for transportation I will update this page and I also plan to keep you informed as I proceed on my trip!

Europe Itinerary as I know it

So far I really only know that I am going to be starting my adventure in Athens Greece and ending it in Edinburgh Scotland.  I am open to suggestions though and I am going to be adding on to the itinerary as I figure out where I am going!

So I just started to plan a 3 month trip to Western Europe in 2010 and I found this blog through the Travel Punk website which I absolutely love!  Pretty much I have decided to use this blog not only to document my planning and travels around Europe but also to document any other trips I may take.  Hope you enjoy reading my blog!
