So day two of Amsterdam started off with a big of a disappointment. After renting bikes we took off towards the Heineken Brewery. I know, visiting bid-budget breweries isn’t the most authentic experience but we heard the so-called “Heineken Experience” is a worthwhile exhibition. Plus its right down the street from the Rijksmuseum, Museumplein, and […]

Remember those old drug commercials from the 80s? This is your brain - this is your brain on drugs…Well Amsterdam is Bruges on drugs. First HGH because its a lot bigger than Bruges. Secondly speed because the pace is a lot faster. And then weed because…well you know.
But other than that, what’s great about A-dam […]

In rabid anticipation of our Nordic journey I’ve been Googling pubs all over Europe. Estonia being the country I know the least amount, it seemed logical to start there.
At the top of almost every list I see is the “Hell Hunt”, a bar that, according to which guidebook you believe, is either full of locals or a tourist […]

Okay, we’re 16 days out so I figured I’d post a suggested packing list.
-1 pair of jeans
-1 pair of other long pants (maybe an old pair of khakis I can ditch over there)
-1 pair of cargo shorts
-mesh shorts to sleep in
–maybe a bathing suit for a sauna or the jacuzzi or pool on the ferry…then […]

So far its been pretty easy to find inspiration in the usual suspects. Travel magazines, websites, TravelPunk, and literature. What I was not expecting - getting pumped up from a television commercial! However, the new spots for Amstel Light show the eponymous beer’s city in a wonderful light way. It’s nice to focus on things outside […]

Yeah, another example of my incessant planning and maybe it takes some of the fun outta figuring things out, but in my opinion, its just a little easier. Especially when traveling in a group. If I was by myself I might just wing it (okay I probably wouldn’t) but with a group of people, its […]

Usually when I’m down in Northern Virginia for work I spend my nights eating takeout in my hotel room watching sitcom reruns. Not so much fun. Last night, however, was different. Since my brother was also nearby for his job, we decided to go check out a baseball game at the Washington Nationals new stadium, […]

So after a long day of doing nothing in the park, my wife and I decided to go for a cheap yet delicious dinner. I’m talking about the Corner Bistro, at 4th and Jane St in New York’s West Village. Famous for its $2.50 drafts of McSorley’s Ale and $6 cheeseburgers, the place is full […]

As requested, I am live blogging from Bryant Park. I can definitively say that this is my favorite spot in the whole city. It’s changed quite a bit from the 70s when my mom claimed she saw someone stabbed here. Free wireless (although I should find the a better spot because my signals kinda weak […]

Its mid-April and the planning has started so I thought I’d update everyone with my summer travel plans. After the trip my wife and I took to Iceland we realized we love Scandinavians. So naturally when it came time to plan another trip (and since we’ve done the “classic” Western European countries) we thought, “Hey, […]
