Okay, so its been quite some time since I last posted on here and I really feel bad about that. Not that I’m letting any readers down, but still, its nice to write down my thoughts, get ‘em online, and pretend I’m adding something of substance to the web. I’m going to try to do better. Its not easy with no “real” trip on the horizon but I will let you in on a little secret - there are two potential trips in the works. Its most likely an either/or situation so instead of talking about both I’ll wait until one is confirmed and blog unabashedly about it without any mention of the other. It just wouldn’t be right. Don’t live in the past! Except I will for the next few weeks as I try to document Scandimonium ‘08. Look for new posts soon…

If a picture’s worth a thousand words here’s my next 1,000,000 blog entries…
July 20th, 2008 — Uncategorized
So yes I’ve been lax in my blogging upon my return from Scandimonium. But it hasn’t all been 4th of July celebrations and actual career-related work. While typing out some drafts of blog entries I kept going back to edit my photos. Turns out I went back often enough that I finished that and got them all uploaded to Flickr (with regrets to the TravelPunk Photo Gallery - sorry Tony!). Now, I’m not a good photographer but I’m trying to get a littler better. I invite you all to check them out. As always, comments are welcome, I’d love to know what you think.
Take me out to the ballgame…
May 1st, 2008 — Uncategorized
Usually when I’m down in Northern Virginia for work I spend my nights eating takeout in my hotel room watching sitcom reruns. Not so much fun. Last night, however, was different. Since my brother was also nearby for his job, we decided to go check out a baseball game at the Washington Nationals new stadium, Nationals Park. No doubt spurred on by our cheers (coincidentily spurred on by our per-diem paid-for beers), the Nats slugged their win to a 6-2 win over the Atlanta Braves. More impressive than the win (and certainly less creepy than Nick Johnson’s mustache) is Nationals Park. A mere half-city block away from the Navy Yard stop on the Metro’s Green Line, the place is easily accessible from the suburbs. I paid $4.50 for parking at the Metro station out in the ‘burbs and another $9 for the round-tip ticket which turns out to be a little less than parking but saved me time, aggregration, and most importantly in these times, gas. Dinner at the coziest bar in NYC
April 21st, 2008 — Uncategorized
So after a long day of doing nothing in the park, my wife and I decided to go for a cheap yet delicious dinner. I’m talking about the Corner Bistro, at 4th and Jane St in New York’s West Village. Famous for its $2.50 drafts of McSorley’s Ale and $6 cheeseburgers, the place is full of wood-paneling, gritty hipsters, and satisfied customers. Continue reading →
Live Blogging from Bryant Park, NYC!
April 19th, 2008 — Uncategorized
As requested, I am live blogging from Bryant Park. I can definitively say that this is my favorite spot in the whole city. It’s changed quite a bit from the 70s when my mom claimed she saw someone stabbed here. Free wireless (although I should find the a better spot because my signals kinda weak here). People watching. Bocce court, old men playing chess, and teenage girls pretending to be healthy whilst snacking on salads they’ve smothered with ranch dressing. Good times. The only thing that might make this better would be a cold brewdog.

Back up and running…
April 14th, 2008 — Uncategorized
Big Thanks to Tony for working all weekend to get the blog going again. Luckily I exported my posts from before so as soon as I get back to my home computer I’ll be able to import them back in.
**Update - I got it back. Sweet.
Using Google Maps
April 12th, 2008 — Uncategorized
So I had an earlier post about trying to add Google Maps to my entries…without much success. As I said most of my quick research has shown that its possible with the addition of some plug-ins, code hacks etc. I don’t have admin rights to main blog site here so I don’t know if I’ll be able to implement the changes but maybe if I find a simple solution I’ll pass it along. I did however figure out how to add a Google Map to a widget. I’ll explain how in some simple steps after the jump… Continue reading →
Trying out some maps…
April 8th, 2008 — Uncategorized
So I thought I’d see how to add Google maps into my posts…yeah, and this isn’t working well. A quick google search tells me I’m not the first one to have this problem. More research is definitely needed…unless someone out there knows some snarky workaround?
Still sorting it out…
April 8th, 2008 — Uncategorized
Well I didn’t get very far yesterday but I promise I’ll try harder today. Still messing around mostly with the formatting, content will come a little later. Added two links to my Blogroll. 1) Paging Mr Morrow, from a couple who are related to a coworker of mine. They’re traveling the world for 6 months, mainly doing SE Asia and South America and 2) Where the Hell is Matt? from the intrepid Dancing Matt. If you don’t know, check it out.
Finally, I’d be more than happy to trade links with anyone else from TPunk who’s got a blog going, just hit me up.
Getting started…

Okay, so here is my first *real* post. I’ve edited the default message and I’m just trying to figure out the ins and outs of WordPress…I figure I’ll spend a little time today taking care of the basic stuff then I’ll get around to posting some travel info.
