Toronto Tpunk Style!
November 13th, 2006
Ok now I am home and in a state of somewhat soberness.
I caught a cab from teri’s this morning and got to the airport just in time to waltz into the last seat for my flight home today. Then I started a 6 hour shift trying to shake off the headache from last night and sort out the details.
First off I would like to apologize about the post up top. I normally don’t swear like a sailor… I swear.
Secondly um I am sorry for drunk dialing and I would also like to formally apologize to the City Of Toronto for peeing on your bus station. I would like to offer thanks to the nice police lady that let me go though, your kindness will be forever passed on.
Thanks to Molson for picking me up and showing me a good time with her friends on friday. “I FEEL LIKE I JUST WON THE STANLEY CUP!” is not a phrase I think I will ever hear again.
So then after the party at her friends place she took me to my hostel where I promptly went and got some grub, (sidenote: Tim Horton’s everything bagel, toasted with butter is amazing. Have at least five if you visit canada) and then I went to sleep.
I woke up around 10:20 the next morning to the realization that I had 10 minutes to check out before I got charged for an extra day so I speed showered and ran on out into the brightness of the rainy toronto day.
Knowing absolutely nothing about toronto other than they have a large tower, I decided that was a good place to start. The CN Tower costs about 30 dollars canadian and is not worth the money in my opinion. However across the street is the Steam Whistle Brewing Company and they have a tour for 8 dollars which I highly recommend!
Continuing on with my aimless wandering I decided to try and find a ship I had seen from the tower and spent some time down by the lake eating more bagels and sipping some hot chocolate.
An important thing to remember if you are coming from a warm climate and headed to toronto is a coat, something I failed to bring along. If you are a warm blooded chicagoan at heart like me then, don’t worry about it too much. T-Dot isn’t as cold as they pretend it is.
After I cruised through the toronto international art fair I headed to Union to await Teri who was coming down early to keep me company. Shortly after meeting her we found ExpatBen and Travelling Welshman and Molsongirl.
Two pitchers later we headed to East side and found Simply_Angelic there as well. After dinner we decided to head to someplace with cheaper beers and ended up at this fantastic place the Beir Market where we spent the remainder of the night.
After that well… the whole bus incident and then some drunk dialing again at Teri’s and then i passed the F out for the night until I awoke this morning to a throbbing headache and some notion that I had to travel 1500 some odd miles.
Sooo yeah, all in all the meetup was great. It was super sweet to finally meet the t-dot girls and to meet ben and alex, next round is on you boys in england, eh?
