Films that inspire you to travel

I saw Before Sunrise and Before Sunset recommended here and rented them both on netflix. I liked both of them a lot... not sure which I liked more though.

Didn't know about either of them until now, but just watched the trailers on YouTube! I totally want to see them both!!

^ hah, I completely forgot that I recommended that one.

My parents DVRed the Planet Earth series and I watched one of the episodes while at home and it's amazing.

Mike & I saw A Map for Saturday again last weekend. Now I'm ready to find a flight & get out of here again!

I'm gonna throw it out there....I know its a "chick flick" but, Titanic. Leonardo DiCaprio's character is awesome. He has no money but some how he just keeps traveling around the world, meets a lot of people, has great experiences, and comes away with great stories and a good attitude even though he was living on the streets. I think its a great way to travel.

^^ hah, they're sappy romantic comedies, but I like them because they involve travel and a hot french girl.

OK - just saw Before Sunrise, and that movie is AWESOME. I don't think its sappy at all. Aside from the awesome travelling, it may be one of the best romance movies I've seen. It reminded me a lot of Lost in Translation, just with more talking and halfway across the world.

It also reminds me of my experience backpacking this past summer. I'm going to download Before Sunset and watch it tonight!

Also, its pretty trippy to watch a movie scene of a moving train when you're actually on a moving train.

Someone upthread suggested "Alive", possibly as a joke - but it's one of my favourite films (the book is much better, though) and ever since I saw it I've wanted to go to Uruguay and to the Andes mountains.

Also, Berlin is my current obsession, so I've watched "Run Lola Run" about 1500 times in the past few months.

Other films that make me want to travel:
Before Sunrise/Sunset
The Beach, of course.
La Vie en Rose
The Talented Mr. Ripley
The Spanish Apartment
The Quiet American
Lost in Translation
Cabaret

Before I moved to the UK I'd watch any film I could find filmed here:
Match Point
Trainspotting
Closer
Notting Hill
About a Boy

Hm, I think I'll probably have to add to this list...

I saw a preview for a movie called In the Hands of Gods, and it looks amazing.

Being a big football (sorry...soccer) fan, and a travel fan, this movie totally speaks to me, although I have yet to see it.

The movie is about 5 British guys who are great at freestyle soccer set out to meet their hero, Diego Maradona. They start busking and putting on street exhibits to get money so they can get from New York to Buenos Aries.

Anybody seen this?

In the Hands of Gods

^^Everybody has raved about that movie, but for some odd reason it doesnt interest me at all...but India does

Have you seen it yet Mish?

The movie is completely different to what I thought it was going to be. It was marketed as too much of a Bollywood style romance. It reminded me more of City Of God, if anyone has seen that.

Bourne Identity - Beautiful places of France, Italy, Germany and Russia.
Seven Years in Tibet - Snow covered mountain of Tibet.
Transformer 2 - Pyramid of Egypt
The Last Samurai - Old Japanese town

I dont think any particular film inspired me that much to go travel. What inspired me was looking at holiday pictures of friends... photographs mainly.

Animal Planet inspire me to travel because of the beautiful nature. I like nature and like to travel seeing different beautiful sights. As for the films, then maybe Pride and Prejudice.
