Life Dreams

My goals:
-travel to as many countries as I can on a salary from working in a place I love
-learn a cool skill (like juggling or playing the guitar or, I don´t really know what...)
-get my driver´s license
-pay off my student loan

I will list ten things, since it is a well rounded number.

(1) Get sober before I lose my brain cells.
(2) Visit every Continent including Antarctica.
(3) Meet a woman that actually likes me.
(4) Become an expert user of ASL.
(5) Buy a BMW - I was turned down for a date with a girl cause she wanted to date an Ivy League guy with a BMW.
(6) Write a murder mystery - only way you can get away with murder. :ninja:
(7) Learn German.
(8) Be forgiven by the only girl I ever loved.
(9) Build a time machine.
(10) Make a dream come true - a bit corny I know.

OK, made the flipping list.

Big E,

It would be easier to kill two birds with one stone.
Buy a DeLorean. That way you get a cool car and a time machine in one vehicle.
Chicks will love it.

In my boredom at work I came across this old gem and though it would be worth reviving.

So, for those that posted a list long ago - how's the progress? For those that haven't already posted - what is your list of life dreams?

Here's how things are progressing on my original list:

- Get a job that i look forward to going to every morning - the fact that I'm trawling through old tpunk posts at work indicates that this has still not happened. I'm working on it.
- Camp a few nights at Everest base camp - perhaps I will do this someday, but I have many items on my list that are of a much higher priority.
- Get right into rock climbing and get up a grade 25 climb - I have gone far and beyond this goal.
- Finish in the top 50 of the Finke desert race on my motorbike - This has fallen way down the list. Rock climbing has replaced dirt bike riding as my no. 1 hobby. But, I would still like to ride in the Finke some day, but just to finish, not to compete.
- Continue not to smoke - Done! I can say with confidence that I am no longer a smoker!
- Get my skydiving certification - Not done, but still high on the list.
- Go and see all the friends i've made while travelling - Not at all practical. Off the list.
- Dance when i'm sober - I'm a rad dancer! Actually, I'm not really much of a dancing fan at all; I have no idea why this was ever on my list.
- Work in a foreign country - Done!
- Do useful volunteer work in a developing country - Hasn't happened. It may not even be on the list anymore.
- TRAVEL MORE - This will be a lifelong work in progress.

...and the most important and difficult one of them all
- be completely 100% satisfied with my life - I am taking big steps to improving my work life, which should up my life satisfaction quite a lot. But, I don't know if my ambitious nature will ever allow me to be 100% satisfied with my life, no matter how many lists I complete.

Ok, so I've made some progress and had some priority changes.

Here's my revised list:

- Pursue a career in a field that I am actually passionate about (environment/water resources).
- Get my skydiving certification.
- Climb some long hard rock routes. Alpine trad 5.12 would be super cool!
- Climb some long hardish ice routes. Multipitch WI5. This will actually be a quick tick as I'm going to do this on Saturday, but it has been a goal for a while and it's still not done so I'm writing it down.
- Learn another language. I'm surprised this wasn’t on my previous list.
- Learn to play the harmonica.
- Find a place I can be happy to call home for a few years.

So, what’s on your list?

7) Travel to every continent

3) Sky dive
4) Love. And be loved.
5) study buddhism in a monastery in nepal for a month
6) start my own conservation company. *the dream* for me when it comes to a career.
7) Live everyday...really live it.

Nice revive! I totally forgot about this post. Reading through and knowing so many people on travelpunk, it is cool to see that many people have checked at least a couple things off of their list. As for me:

1. being certified to scubba dive and scubba diving cool places during our travels. Nope, I still haven't even snorkeled. I kind of took up mountaineering instead.

2. living on a sail boat for a summer and learning how to sail, maintain and navigate it. Nope, but i did do four days on puget Sound where i learned quite alot.

3. hiking the Appalachian trail or it's equivalent in another country; which would satisfiy another of my goals of hiking in nepal.I leave in three months to hike the appalachian trail :mf_w00t2:

4. establishing myself as a freelance photographer, traveling the world shooting photographs.yet another goal that fell by the way side while going to school and mountaineering

5. being able to do a cartwheel. (i'm serious) Nope. it eludes me

New Goals?

1. Complete the AT hike by Sept 2010
2. Climb Mt Rainier
3. Find a job that i am passionate about
4. Quit smoking, even if I am just a "social smoker"
5. Find a great guy that hikes, is laid back and is down with an alternative lifestyle.
6. Have a baby. yeah, i want to be gloriously fat and happy for nine months and then be a great mommy.

5. being able to do a cartwheel. (i'm serious) Nope. it eludes me

You can do it. I believe. None of these videos are really great, but I think the key points to take away from them are that you can't LOOK at the ground, you have to just let your head fall upside-down (scary in the beginning, yes), and you want to try to line your hands up so that they are in a straight line parallel to the direction you were looking at originally....

Wow, this was over three years ago?? Insane. Here are my updates:

1. Once I'm done college: drop off the face of the earth... or.... the U.S.? I can't stand being here. Every moment of my life I just want to jump on a plane to somewhere and do whatever... not done college yet, but this is a work in progress. i have student loans, so i can't quite drop off the face of the earth, but i could very well leave to US

2. Get writing more. My journalism teacher has given me a page of the paper to edit with a friend (journalism one students usually only learn rules of writing and stuff like that that has nothing to do with actually writing...), and i think she said we could start writing articles as well...wow, I write A LOT more. i'm an english major now and I think i'm going to end up focusing on creative writing

3. I don't want to depend on my parents once I'm 18 (except for you know... college...), so I plan on moving out when I'm 18... HA!

4. Bungee jump :(

5. skydive :(

6. scuba yes!! this got done on our trip to Mexico two years ago? amaaaazing

7. meet some tpunks (april...aaaaapriiiil) yes! this happened twice, I think

8. get a tattoo. yes! got one five or so days after i turned 18.

9. Learn to not regret things, no matter what happens... i wouldn't say no matter what, but i've stopped regretting things from the past in general and at this point, have no regrets. i'd do everything just as i have done it, and it feels great to say it. here's to hoping that this sticks!

I think I'm pretty content with five out of nine!

Revisions:

1. Figure out what to do with an English major. I think, at this point, the plan is to apply to a PGCE program in NI? But I could also apply to get my masters in creative writing, poetry or Renaissance Studies. ANYWAY. figure it out.

2. continue to write when i don't need to

3. appreciate my family more

4. graduate!! this has been a stressful semester, for sure, but there's only a year and a half left!!

Go to University Nope (I did enrol though)
Complete University Nope
Travel more work in progress

Eh, 2 out of 4 isn't bad and to be honest, university isn't a priority any more. So, some NEW life goals

See every continent
Travel more
Spend time with friends and family

Writing at age 30, I might add. I started backpacking at 24 and I am still a backpacker :)

Top 5 Life Dreams
1. Learn survival skills in the wilderness, and spend an extended amount of time living in a purely natural area, where my life is not dominated by many human beings interactions.

2. To be a master of a martial art, or contribute to martial arts. For example I have learned Muay Thai since I was 23 or so. When I grow older, I plan to really study Tai Chi.

3. To write a great novel or script.

4. To meet complete satisfaction in my professional and love lives.

5. To meet death with courage.
