Experimental Travel

I'm going to try this next time I'm out in a new city:

Barman's Knock

Hypothesis
Find the area's best drinking spots (and drinks) by following the advice of a local expert.

Apparatus
Dutch courage; a map and a friendly face may also be of use.

Method
Go to your favourite pub and order your favourite drink. Ask the barperson where their favourite pub is and what they drink there. Go there and order their recommended drink, and then repeat the exercise with whoever serves you, and so on.

Note: participants would be well advised not to attempt this experiment on an empty stomach, nor to repeat it ad nauseam.

Oh I love this. Great find.

A related idea that I had last year - and sadly, failed to complete, due to chaos - was travelling alphabetically. Starting from Z. Literally, our village started with Z. I managed X, W, V, S, O, L, F, C, B, and A (where we now live - so we moved Z-A, at any rate!), but a baby and transatlantic move bit into my time a little.

Not much travel time this year - maybe in honour of moving to Russia I'll make it a five-year plan...

:tumbleweed:

You most like to go to the bar and order your favourite drink. Asked their favourite bar, where bar person what they drink there. In order to go there to drink their recommendations, and then repeat the exercise and who your service.
