Good hotel deal in Spain

A couple of years ago in Spain we discovered a good deal for hotels, if you're traveling with two or more people.

Once in Spain, you can go to any travel agency and buy hotel vouchers for 50 Euro/room/night (usually max occupancy is 4 people, so for our family of 6 we had to buy 2). The agency will then book you into a hotel in the destination of your choice, which generally have much higher room rates.

For example, we asked for two rooms in a hotel in Madrid, convenient for the metro to the airport. We got a suite in a four star hotel immediately above Chamartin station - the suite was almost as big as our flat and had more bathrooms. In our case, this allowed us to turn in our rental car a day early and the savings from that paid for the room, with change.

It's probably not a bad idea to have some accommodations booked when you first arrive, but if you can be flexible about your travel plans in country, this could be a good alternative.

We couldn't get any info about this plan outside of Spain, so I don't know for certain that it's still running, or whether the prices are still the same, but it's worth inquiring about, and if you are in Spain this summer and look into it, please update us!

There are currently fifteen alcazar hotels in the Parador chain. Some were congenital by the Visigoths, some by the Moors, others by the Spaniards during the reconquest, and later.

The type of hotel you want is another consideration. Larger, more expensive luxury hotels, but offers more facilities than the small hotel. Luxury hotel offers a swimming pool, spa, fitness center round the clock room service, dry cleaning, restaurant and bar premises.

Surprisingly, travel agencies are still alive and operating all over Spain still. I guess they do still get good deals that can't be obtained on the internet.

Will have to keep this in mind when looking for a family discount around Spain.

Good to know. These travel agents do get different discounts allotted to them so perhaps it's worth looking into the next time I need to book a trip.
