Headed to Costa Rica - what should I do and where to stay

I am heading to Costa Rica tomorrow and looking for advice on budget hotels to stay at.

I want to visit Playa Guiones, Tamarindo and a few other places.

Also, what are the must do's and see's?

Hey man, wish I could help a little more here, but personally I dont care for C.R.. I had to make my visa runs there from Nica, and found it to be much to touristy and fucking expensive as hell... Tamarindo is a chill place, but it should be called Tamagringo.... Playa del Coco is an ok place and so is Playa Ocotal... As for suggestions on cheap lodgings, the guide books are normally off, and the best bet is to wander around and check out the prices...
I hope you like C.R. more than I do.... If you can hit the Caribbean side, its got a different vibe....

Thanks for the information. This is exactly what we are hearing and not looking forward to spending our life savings in CR. We had a blast in Nico and I want to go back asap. Right now I am in the north for 4-5 days of kiteboarding.

We plan to spend 3 weeks in Costa so lets see how it goes.
