London

I think everybody in the UK has been expecting a terrorist attack whether it be in London or another major city in england, i.e the same way as in which the ira previously operated. Bookofkels i totally agree with you The older generations of the UK know exactly what its like to have their cities destroyed by German bombs in the 2nd world war especially when we still have derelict churches reminding us.

People have 7 years to be convinced to come back to london for the olympics.

my condolences also; my brother had been in london visiting friends and had left that day to meet us in lyon: all friends are fine and so is he: this is so shitty! those people are horrible:

I think that's because they hate the U.S. far more than other Western nations.

ditto...

Sincere condolences to all the Londonites - fortunately it wasn't much worse. The Tube was such a great subway - always easier to destroy than to build... Really sux for it to be targeted and inevitably slowed down in the future from security increases. The long-term effects of all these attacks is unfrotunately going to be a growing police state...

Well, I still wouldn't hesitate to revisit London. The actual risk of terrorist attacks is still infinitesimally low ANYWHERE you go - and lightning usually doesn't strike twice in the same place, anyways. So, I hope tourism fully resumes after repairs are done to revitalize the economy there. If not, the terrorists win.

But, whatever happened to the "War on Terrorism?" We got Saddam and Iraq, but whatever happened to OBL and Al-Queda? Seems like they dropped off our radar once we entered Iraq?

Someone has to protect all that oil

Terrorists suck!! I hope the best for all the victims of violence throughout the world. I was pleased to see the press conference given by Mayor Livingston and Commission/Sir Blair concerning the attack. They seem like intelligent people that will handle the crisis maturely and appropriately. It's good to see real leaders step up.

this is just about the worst act of crap i have seen ......the same crap happened after 9/11 ----------here in the states they raised the gas prices ..........i hope the english goverment will get refunds for there citazens

london hotels

I can't believe a company would raise their prices almost 3x what they normally charge to cash in on this. Thats disgusting, I can't believe someone would think profits after something like that!

It was our first day in London and we didn't let it bring us down! We are safe and still having a great time! The people in London have been great to us! We will never let any kind of threat (terrorist or otherwise) stop us from travelling. Our sympathies to the people of London but they are certinaly taking it all in stride. The tude was only off for one day.

thats just sick... (the hotel thing)

Noria, glad to know that you're not letting this put you down and that you're safe. hope this hotel price change won't affect you.

As crappy as all of this was too look upon how it was handled with emergency services and such was awesome they did an awesome job.

As for terroist what do they have to gain from this nothing there is no financial, politcial or military value from doing this it confuses me.

My heart goes out to all in London hope you all keep your heads up.

See London will bounce back londoners won't let this affect their daily lives, yes they will be hurt by it but it won't change how they live day to day which is the best payback, after 9/11 americans changed the way they did things they became too concerned and looked over their sholders, it effected their freedom to do what they wanted it became so that holidays where thought out as in terms of how likely it was for them to attack...this is how they won.....they made everyone think twice about what they where doing....people questioning things that they never had for years....should no-one have died on sept 11 the biggest thing they did was take away everyones freedom ...on that day nearly 3,ooo people died but also a nation lost its confidence, the everyday things most people had done for years, the yearly holiday familys had taken for years to the same place, all this came into question, and for people to question a tradition like "going to florida to visit aunty whoever" like had been done for the last 10 years but after 9/11 they didn't want to go....means that the terroist's had succeded, you hear bush talk about the fight for freedom but how can you be free when you have physco's out there that will attack when ever how ever?

Hmm, as with all the recent global acts of terror, there's already a few interesting questions behind the headlines...hmmm:

1) It's far from proven if "The Secret Organization of al-Qaida in Europe's" claim was legit or not:
2) British authorities may also have had some foreknowledge of the bombings:
British police told the Israeli Embassy in London minutes before Thursday's explosions that they had received warnings of possible terror attacks in the city, a senior Israeli official said.

Just before the blasts, Scotland Yard called the security officer at the Israeli Embassy to say they had received warnings of possible attacks
Well, it's understandable if Scotland Yard would have withheld issuing a general alarm for fear of panicking the mass public, but I just wonder exactly how much they knew beforehand...? Also, (moral of story is) remember that in times of crisis, you can't expect the full truth from your gov - as they will do what is best to maintain order in the country - not necessarily save YOUR sorry A55.

Hey, I just wanted to offer my condolences to you Londoners as well. We feel your pain and encourage you to stand strong in this difficult time. Pray for peace -_-

Noria, glad to here that you and your sis are fine! Travel safe :cowboy:

condolences to all Londoners

I am moving down that way soon hopefully, although the last few days have made me think, im still moving down there. I have never liked tube trains and i may stick to the busses.

I think the emergency services need a mention, thank you to all of them for the help they gave all the londerners on that day. Without them many more would have died.

Hmm, now a BIG fishy "coincidence" here:

A consultancy agency with government and police connections was running an exercise for an unnamed company that revolved around the London Underground being bombed at the exact same times and locations as happened in real life on the morning of July 7th.

Power told the host that at the exact same time that the London bombings were taking place, his company was running a 1,000 person strong exercise which drilled the London Underground being bombed at the exact same locations, at the exact same times, as happened in real life.
There seems to be a pattern here where gov "training exercises" just HAPPEN to be conducted at the same time as "terrorist attacks:"
NORAD was conducting drills of flying hijacked planes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon at 8:30 in the morning, September 11, 2001. A CIA planned exercise on September 11 was built around a plane crashing into a building.

Basing their information on a BBC Radio 5 interview, Watson and Jones say a consulting agency with government and police connections was running an exercise for an unnamed company that revolved around the London Underground being bombed at the exact times and locations as happened in real life on the morning of July 7th.
Something's smelling foul here... :torch:

Its soooooooooo far more complicated than Saddam being behind it. The war on Terrorism doesnt end with Iraq. It shouldnt have even had anything to do with it, but thats besides the point. I am not going to get into political discussion, it just causes arguments. And arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics. Even if you win your still a retard. Right now my heart goes out to the families of those lost.

What we need is to be invaded by Aliens. Then it wont be white vs brown, black vs yellow red vs tan. It will be us vs green.

qwardian 2 of your comments made me giggle

but on a serious note the amount of racial attacks that is takin place against mosques around the country is appalling. Then to top it off i just watched the orange order being attacked in belfast....but thats a whole different situation

Voyd, Voyd, Voyd...

Is there a conspiracy theory you DON'T believe? :torch:

Seriously, people who think that Bush staged 9/11 so he can go "kick some Muslim ass", or that Blair staged this one to make Islamic fundamentalists look bad, really need to get back in touch with reality. Or maybe some medication for their paranoia. It was interesting reading interviews with Islamic British citizens in the days after the London bombings, that espoused those very same views. Scary to think that an entire segment of a population can be so detached from reality. Or so indoctrinated by a culture of hate and blame that they are willing to believe the most convoluted and outlandish theories because it jives with what they WANT to believe...
